2012: My Year of Pop Culture

Maybe because I'm a little OCD and love making lists, I've totaled up what my year of imbibing pop culture amounted to. So here, mostly for my gratification, are three lists fo what interested me this year; Television, Film, and Books.

Admittedly the Film list is a little sad. I limit the list only to films that I saw at the cinema and they are few and many of dubious quality. With Television, I can say I'm pretty happy with my list. But it's really the Books list that I'm most proud of.

    So without further ado:

The WTO podcast: Interview with R.J. Ryan, writer of 'Syndrome'

I had the great fortune to run into writer R.J. Ryan in the lobby of the hotel at WonderCon 2012 in Anaheim and we struck up a conversation. It didn't take much arm-twisting (or any, for that matter) for him to agree to come into the studio and sit down for an interview.

And what an interview it is! If you can stick it out through the full 2 hours, you'll get to hear all about his first book, Syndrome from Archaia Entertainment, with co-writer Daniel Quantz and artist David Marquez, upcoming projects, talk about the comics industry, and we even review several comics from last week!

R.J. Ryan is best known for co-writing the acclaimed, Russ Manning Award-nominated Archaia Black Label release SYNDROME, published in 2010. He is currently in production with David Marquez on a new creator owned, all-3D original graphic novel, due in early 2013.

Thanks again to R.J. for taking the time and I hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did!

Exclusive original art from the upcoming 3-D OGN by David Marquez! (click for larger version)
