Pull The Other One - Weekly pull list

We might as well call this the week of Jonathan Hickman! In addition to the latest issue of FF and the fourth and final issue of his Red Wing limited series, Hickman has the debut of the one-shot Feel Better Now. I've been excited for this book ever since I heard him talk about it in his spotlight panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Not only is he writing AND doing the artwork for the book, but the story sounds fascinating.

Lest it be lost in all of this Hickman love, also remember that this week the newest issue of The Sixth Gun is out from Oni Press. I always look forward to the newest chapter in the western/epic fantasy tale from writer Cullen Bunn and artist Brian Hurtt (his blog is called The Hurtt Locker, how awesome is that?).

    Here's the pull list:

Abe Sapien: Devil Does Not Jest #2
    All Star Western #2
    Aquaman #2
    The Flash #2
    I, Vampire #2

    Boy Wonder trailer

I know what you're thinking, but no, this is not a film about Batman's brightly-clad teen sidekick. Boy Wonder is another in a recent spate of real-life superhero movies. Joining such films as Defendor, Kick-Ass, and Super, you won't find any ultrapowered uber-men here, only regular human beings. From first-time writer/director Michael Morrissey, the film stars Caleb Steinmeyer (True Blood, Lost), Tracy Middendorf (Boardwalk Empire), and James Russo (Public Enemies, Hawaii Five-0).

Boy Wonder looks like it is more of a darkly psychological take on what drives a young man to go out at night and fight crime and the effects that that kind of violence has on him. The trailer is almost impenetrable, more style than exposition. However, the clip about choreographing the fight scenes for the film intrigues.

In this riveting and gritty psychological-thriller, a young Brooklyn boy witnesses the brutal murder of his mother and grows up obsessed with finding her killer. Thus begins his life as a quiet, straight-A student by day and a self-appointed hero at night. But what is a real hero? And who decides what is right or wrong? As the boundaries blur, Sean’s dual life wears on his psyche and his two worlds careen dangerously close to colliding. Like a graphic novel you can’t put down, Boy Wonder challenges morality, distorting perceptions of what is right and what is justified, as it races to its shocking conclusion.

Pull The Other One - Weekly pull list

Wow. Big week here! Fear Itself #7! Let's hope Matt Fraction lands this one in fine form and we don't get the kind of fizzle that seems to afflict about half of Marvel's big summer events.

I don't think it will thud. C'mon, it's Matt Fraction! With art by Stuart Immonen!

More interesting to me, though, is Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray's Book Smart, with art by Juan Santacruz. They're a spectacular writing team so I look forward to what they do with a creator-owned property.

    Here's the pull list:

    Batman #2
    Green Lantern Corps #2
